The Cafe was launched in 2013 when it replaced the Bakery which had run successfully for eight years.

Our 14-19 students run the Bakery as a mini-enterprise on a Friday morning and are aided by a team of cooks on a Wednesday and Thursday who prepare the items required. They are ably assisted by members of staff who help them serve their customers. They also run a telephone order line and offer a take away service.

The students are responsible for choosing their uniforms and allocating jobs to their team. Any decisions regarding stock are also discussed after the Café closes on a Friday morning.

They have welcomed different classes to eat in the Bakery and also organised a number of charity days, including support for Children in Need and the Macmillan Coffee morning. The team have also donated money to classes to buy toys, books or games for the children from their takings.
