Core Vocabulary

 What is Core Vocabulary?

 

 They are the words we use most frequently in our day to day conversations and use in multiple situations. 

 

 Core vocabulary is more powerful than fringe/topic or noun vocabulary in everyday communication. Pupils need core vocabulary because they allow for real communication, not just labelling objects. Using core vocabulary helps learners express wants, needs, feelings and social interactions, making communication more functional. 

 

 We have updated our Victoria Core boards with a 10 and 15 locations format. If you would like any ideas on how to use them at home please do get in touch with the Communication Team.
