The Physiotherapy Department is staffed by a team of Senior Physiotherapists, Senior and Junior therapists in rotational posts from other hospitals and Physiotherapy Assistants.

We also have student Physiotherapists on six week placements, completing their Paediatric training.

The therapy staff provide an integrated approach to direct therapy input in order to maximise the children's physical potential.

In addition, we provide advice and Postural Management Programmes which are an educational tool to provide families and school staff with the means to help protect the children against contractures and deformity and allow them access to changes of position where otherwise they would not be able to.

We assess the need and refer students appropriately for the following:

• Orthopaedic intervention.
• Orthotics provision (splints, corrective devices, specialist footwear).
• Wheelchair provision and supportive seating systems.
• Home equipment and modifications from social services.

Before leaving school we refer students to adult services for their continuing care, including physiotherapy where necessary.
