  • Sing a Song: Musical Zooms for Families – Now Booking!

    Mon 28 Mar 2022

    During the Easter holidays, Bamboozle will be offering free interactive Zoom sessions for small groups over three days. The sessions will include a mixture of storytelling and music.

    Our sessions are predominantly designed for children who are often described as having Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities and also for children who are identified as being on the autistic spectrum. Our Zoom sessions are also suitable for young people with a wider range of disabilities.

    We understand that experiences on a screen have their limitations, and we encourage our participants to bring along any instruments or props you might have at home to join in with our rhythms, (e.g. banging pots and pans, making shakers by filling empty bottles with lentils, beans or anything that rattles!).

    Our Zooms last for about 30 minutes and involve two of our Bamboozle performers providing a mixture of storytelling and live music. There will be four sessions per day and each session will be for a group of up to four families so that we can personalise the performance for our participants. The set up will be relaxed and informal; there’ll be an opportunity to chat, followed by storytelling, songs and music.

    UPCOMING ZOOMS:
    Saturday 16th April – 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm.

    Wednesday 20th April – 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm.

    Friday 22nd April – 11.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm, 3.30pm.

    On Thursday 10th March, we were fortunate to receive our donation of adapted bikes/trikes from Tomcat. They very kindly offered a fantastic training session to staff as well.

    You can find out more about the organisation that built them here:

  • Foyle Foundation Grant

    Fri 04 Mar 2022

    Foyle Foundation Grant

    We are delighted to announce that Victoria School has been successful in receiving a £7000 grant, which can be used towards the purchase of teaching resources and books.

    We have already identified that we will be using the funds to purchase additional Little Wandle Revised books to match our reading scheme in school. The remaining funding will also further support the development of our library resources and our reading for pleasure books.

    The Foyle Foundation is an independent grantmaking trust that distributes grants to UK charities. Since it became operational in November 2001, The Foundation has disbursed £115.1M in grants (up to 31st December 2020).

    The Foundation will support projects which facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and learning and which have a long-term strategic impact.  Key areas for support are:

    • libraries, museums and archives;
    • special educational needs;
    • projects that encourage sustainability by reducing overheads or which help generate additional revenue.  This might include environmental improvements to save energy and lower carbon emissions where a cost benefit can be demonstrated;
    • projects and activities which increase access and widen the diversity of attenders/visitors.
